Year and A Day

from $3,800.00

Ali Beletic

Clay, Pigment, Acrylic, Charcoal, and Oil on Canvas | 2024

24 × 18 Inches

Past, present and future collide in Ali’s series Neon Primitivism, which celebrates the “Archaic Post Modern” pointing the lens at various facets of humanity throughout the globe and time, but utilizing a punk, primitivist gesture to express multiple angles; part philosophical pluralism, part cubist narrative, juxtaposing a broad swath of inspirations, from ancient existence, to modern life and sensibilities - reflecting our current nature - a culture in simultaneity. Her juxtaposition of materials, concept, tradition, and process intentionally collapse the lens through primitivist gesture and abstraction, pointing toward multiple directions of cave paintings, the new york school, ceremonial body paints, line work, weathered artifacts, intermixing to promote vibrant self aware pop art, celebrating the vanguard beyond conformity as fun, vibrant, bold, extroverted, and as Never a Dull Moment.

The series features ancient clays, burned wood and botanical dyes alongside spray paint and various modern mediums.

10% of profits go to environmental cleanup, habitat restoration and indigenous communities globally.
